      <image:title>Pip Pattison Award - Robert Ackland</image:title>
<image:caption>Robert Ackland has been a mainstay of SNA in Australia for some time. He is an internationally recognised expert in the study of online social spaces. His VOSON software provides SNA scholars around the world an incredible set of tools, and he regularly teaches workshops on their use (including at this ASNAC). In 2018, Rob hosted ASNAC at ANU, Canberra and went on to become President of ANSNA in 2019. Rob was instrumental in implementing the only fully hybrid Sunbelt ever, hosted in Cairns, Australia in 2022, at the cost to his health. Rob is currently Chair of the Executive Committee of the Australian Consortium for Social and Political Research Incorporated (ACSPRI).</image:caption>

      <image:title>Pip Pattison Award - Margaret Hellard AM</image:title>
<image:caption>Professor Margaret Hellard AM is a Deputy Director at the Burnet Institute, Head of Hepatitis Services in Department of Infectious Diseases at The Alfred Hospital and an Adjunct Professor at Monash University and University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia. Margaret’s principal research interests are in preventing the transmission and improving the management of blood borne viruses; the ultimate aim being to eliminate viral hepatitis as a public health threat and end the AIDS epidemic. More recently she is also undertaking work to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on the community. This has included exploring the role of social networks in disease transmission and prevention. Margaret is a member of numerous advisory committees and working groups on viral hepatitis and HIV within Australia and globally, including Co-Chairing the WHO Strategic and Technical Advisory Group on HIV and Viral Hepatitis.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Lucia is a Senior Fellow of the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) in the Australian Department of Defence. In this role she provides guidance and mentoring to DSTG researchers and contributes directly to collaborative initiatives with other research institutions. Since joining Defence in 1990 and up to her retirement in 2019, Lucia was involved in various research initiatives aimed at developing modelling and analysis tools to support Defence and National Security, with a particular focus on social network analysis. Her current research is on methods for temporal analysis of interaction networks and the formal characterisation of social media as a system for spreading information and social attitudes. She is an Honorary Fellow at the School of Psychological Sciences, University of Melbourne, and a Visiting Fellow at The Centre for Defence Communications and Information Networking at the University of Adelaide.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Mark S. Handcock is Distinguished Professor of Statistics in the Department of Statistics and Data Science a the University of California, Los Angeles. His work focuses on statistical models for social networks, the development of statistical methodology for the collection and analysis of social network data, surveying of hard-to-sample populations, spatial processes and demography. His research is based largely on motivation from questions in the social sciences, social epidemiology and environmetrics. <image:title>Featured Speakers - Johan H. Koskinen</image:title>
<image:caption>Johan obtained his PhD in statistics at Stockholm University, working on Bayesian estimation for statistical models for social networks under the supervision of Ove Frank. He has largely continued in this area, for example proposing approaches for handling missing network data and techniques for likelihood-based inference for network panel data of different types. Together with colleagues in Melbourne, he edited a book on exponential random graph models that has become the standard reference in the field. He previously has held positions at the universities of Melbourne, Oxford, and Manchester and is currently holding a position in the Department of Statistics at Stockholm University. In-between stints being employed at the University of Melbourne, he has been a reliable visitor to these shores, maintaining an honorary position throughout, and he keeps up close collaborations with the Australian network community. He has been in Melbourne for every Ashes Boxing day test since the 2006/7 series. Throughout his career he has maintained an interest in fundamental network issues, such as how we can represent networks, what network dependencies are, and how many observations we have in a network.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Garry Robins Award - Michele Barnes</image:title>
<image:caption>Michele Barnes is the Director of the Social Dynamics and Environmental Change Lab and co-lead of the Climate Disaster and Adaptation theme at the Sydney Environment Institute. She is a social network scientist and interdsciplinary, environmental social scientist. Her work has a thematic focus on marine and coastal systems, where she draws on theories and methods from sociology and complex systems science to contribute a better understanding of how nuanced social factors and relationships between people and nature influence sustainability and resilience, particularly in the context of climate change. Michele has received number of significant national and international awards for her research on social dynamics and environmental change, including prestigious fellowships from the U.S. National Science Foundation (2015) and the Australian Research Council (DECRA, 2019), the Paul Bourke Award for Early Career Research from the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, and a Eureka Prize for Excellence in Interdisciplinary Scientific Research. She is committed to research impact and thus regularly works in collaborative, interdisciplinary teams and directly engages with policymakers and practitioners to work toward a sustainable future for both people and ecosystems. As a result, her research has directly contributed to conservation and environmental governance efforts in many locations across the globe.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Colin Gallagher is a highly regarded, skilled and innovative researcher, with an established and growing reputation within Australia and internationally. He has a clear programmatic and strategic approach to research, particularly in the building of research teams to investigate major societal issues using a network perspective, from disaster recovery to mental health systems. He has played an important role in the decade-long Beyond Bushfires project to investigate recovery from bushfire disasters; and he now leads a large team of researchers on a project comprehensively map the networks of the Victorian mental health system. He has over 30 research publications including in leading social network journals, and he frequently teaches short courses and seminars in network analysis. He has played an important role in planning and assisting in the hosting of Sunbelt in Cairns in 2022.</image:caption>

Peng is the designer and programmer for the PNet suite of software package for the statistical modelling of one-mode, two-mode, multiplex, multilevel networks, as well as the co-evolution of network structure and individual outcomes. Peng has applied these models in the research fields of public health, education, management, social-ecological systems, interlocking directorates, public policy, and social network intervention evaluations.</image:caption>
